A perennial favorite, the Ram 1500 continues to delight buyers at dealerships like the Capitola Ram dealer, thanks to its exceptional ride quality, comfortable seats, luxurious interior, and user-friendly infotainment system. The 2022 Ram 1500 gets a choice of three powerful engines and has an impressive towing capacity of up to 12,750 pounds. Buyers looking for a full-size pickup that checks all the right boxes should take a good look at the Ram 1500.
According to the Capitola Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram dealer, changes for 2022 come primarily in the way of some new packages and limited edition models. The G/T package that adds performance and technology features is available in the Laramie and Rebel trims. The BackCountry Edition is an off-road package that makes the Big Horn and Lone Star models even more rugged. The 10th Anniversary Edition adds an even more sophisticated interior to the Limited trim, along with an available Blue Shade paint color and exclusive interior and exterior badging.
“[The] 2022 Ram 1500 is more talented than most half-ton trucks because it’s significantly nicer. Sure, the entry-level models aren’t lined with the luscious materials and upscale features of the priciest trims, but they still ride better than the fanciest alternatives thanks to its more sophisticated suspension. ... Obviously, the Ram 1500’s capabilities ensure it won’t be confused for anything but a truck, but the fact that it can pass for a luxury vehicle is what makes it special.”
The 2022 Ram 1500 comes in six trim levels: Tradesman, Big Horn, Laramie, Rebel, Limited Longhorn, and Limited. There’s also a supercharged TRX variant and a Classic variant not covered in this review. All models get standard rear-wheel drive. Buyers can choose between Quad and Crew Cabs.
Four engines are on offer, each matched to an eight-speed automatic transmission:
Standard features for the base Ram 1500 Tradesman trim include 18-inch steel wheels, push-button start, cloth or synthetic leather upholstery, an infotainment system with a 5-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, a six-speaker audio system and USB ports.
The available Level 1 Equipment Group adds satellite radio and a power-sliding rear window. The Level 1 Safety Group adds collision warning, pedestrian detection, lane keep assist and forward automatic emergency braking. Blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert are also available. The Off-Road Group is available for Tradesman models with four-wheel drive. It comes with a locking rear differential, hill descent control, skid plates and tow hooks.
Drivers who use their Ram 1500s for towing will appreciate the new trailer hitch light, which is part of the available Trailer Tow Group. These LED lights provide illumination above the trailer hitch. The trailer hitch light lets you see the hitch at night when using the electronic trailer reverse steering control.
