The Ram 1500 stands as one of America’s favorite pickups. This full-size truck is popular at dealerships like the Gilroy Ram dealer, thanks to its comfortable ride, potent engines, spacious interior, and user-friendly infotainment system. Buyers looking for a top-notch truck that checks all the boxes should place the 2021 Ram 1500 at the top of their shopping list.
According to the Gilroy Ram dealership, the 2021 Ram 1500 gets some changes this year, including a new high-performance variant called the Ram 1500 TRX, which we’re not reviewing here. New available features include a head-up display, a digital rearview mirror, and a trailer reversing steering control system. A new optional infotainment setup features displays that off-roaders can use to check the truck’s height, pitch and roll, and transfer case mode. The forward-collision warning system is now available on more trims, and there are enhanced trailering features. The Advanced Safety package now comes with pedestrian detection. There’s also a 10th Anniversary Edition appearance package for the Longhorn trim, which adds exclusive interior and exterior badging, Mountain Brown interior upholstery and trim details, metal pedal covers and special carpeting.
The automotive media continues to shower the Ram 1500 with praise. Motor Trend writes:
“With its impressive mix of on-road manners, off-road adventurousness, and work-ready capability, the Ram 1500 earned MotorTrend’s Truck of the Year award. Even in base trims the Ram 1500 feels high-quality, and range-topping models are legitimately luxurious. ... Nice to drive, work with, and look at, the Ram 1500 has well-rounded appeal in any specification.”
Buyers get a choice of three engines connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission:
The base Ram 1500 Tradesman trim comes with 18-inch steel wheels, push-button start, active grille shutters, a coil-spring suspension, an electronic parking brake, heated and power-adjustable side mirrors, a tilt/telescoping steering wheel, vinyl floors and seats, air conditioning, a rearview camera, trailer-sway control, cruise control, and a 5.0-inch infotainment touchscreen. The optional Level 1 Equipment Group adds a power-sliding rear window, satellite radio, and upgraded cloth upholstery. The Level 1 Safety Group features pedestrian detection and lane keep assist.
The range-topping Limited trim comes with amenities that include power-deployable running boards, premium leather bucket seats, a four-corner air suspension, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and wireless charging. The Limited also gets a 12-inch touchscreen with easy-to-use touch controls, simple menus, and pinch-and-swipe technology.
Drivers who spend time pulling heavy loads will appreciate the 2021 Ram 1500’s optional electronic trailer reverse steering control setup. This system makes it easy to back up a trailer. It can steer the truck automatically when the driver twists a knob.
